SKOOL OF BARBERING: A BEACON OF HOPE FOR HARPURHEY & MOSTON COMMUNITIES

Founded by Zee, the director of MGTY, Skool of Barbeing stands as a testament to dedication and the power of community upliftment. From the young age of 13, Zee dedicated himself to the art of barbering, often sacrificing playtime with friends to hone his skills. Now, at 20, his thriving career as a barber is not only a personal achievement but a foundation upon which he is building opportunities for others.

Zee’s journey is a beacon of hope and resilience. Known for his respect and wisdom, he has been a guiding light for many young individuals, steering them towards a positive path from his barber chair. His next step in giving back is the Skool of Barbeing, a project made possible through the support of Bianca, the manager of “Agency Change.” Selected to be part of a 12-week community project, Zee’s idea stood out, earning him a £2000 fund to bring his vision to life.

Skool of Barbeing is more than just a barber school; it is a sanctuary for young people aged 15-25. Here, they learn to cut all types of hair, from European to Afro hair, and how to use shavers safely. This comprehensive training is designed to equip them with a high-income skill that they can carry throughout their lives. The goal is to provide a pathway away from street crime, giving these young individuals a legal and sustainable career option.

The uniqueness of Skool of Barbeing lies in its inclusive training program, which goes beyond what is typically offered in regular colleges. By providing expertise in various hair types, the school addresses the diverse needs of the community. Operating out of Harpurhey College, the school aims to be sustainable but recognizes the ongoing need for support from sponsors and funders.

The impact of Skool of Barbeing is already evident. Many young people have found a new sense of purpose and a positive mindset through the training provided. The project not only offers a practical skill but also fosters a sense of community and belonging.

To continue this invaluable work and expand its reach, Skool of Barbeing seeks your support. Whether you are a potential student, sponsor, or funder, your involvement can make a significant difference. Join Zee in this mission to transform lives and build a brighter future for the youth of Harpurhey and Moston.
